New FLOW
We are excited to be moving FLOW onto the SubStack platform. Rivers change as they develop and this is exactly how Driftwood works. We do not have some master plan we are working to. Driftwood is adaptive, versatile, agile and uses improvisation, intuition and emergence as key values.
As we FLOW through Ostara and into the warmth of a new spring and summer I am mindful of all that we have achieved so far and all that is to come.
1. Why this, why now
We have already put out two editions of the Driftwood Studio newsletter: FLOW. However, we are now moving the operation to SubStack for greater integration and reach a wider audience. If you are already subscribed to FLOW you will receive automatic updates. But you can also access the FLOW page without a subscription.
This gives readers greater choice and flexibility.
EVERYONE AN ARTIST
2. A Creative Community
Another reason for moving to SubStack is because it is about building a community. We look forward to bringing all kinds of advice, information, opportunities and offers in a variety of formats. We also want other people to get involved. You can find out more about Driftwood Studio and our vision here.
We believe everyone has the right to explore their own creative potential. In the eyes of Driftwood: Everyone is an artist.
Share the FLOW and grow the Driftwood Studio online community.
3. On the Horizon
At the moment FLOW is a free subscription, but we look forward to building in paid offers as the project evolves. We will publish FLOW as a monthly news item. But as time progresses we will add in paid subscriptions for that creative life we all crave.
As we FLOW through Ostara and into the warmth of a new spring and summer I am mindful of all that we have achieved so far and all that is to come.
4. Riding the Rapids
Life is not always what we expect and over the last few weeks we have been battling some adverse conditions. However, we are confident a path will be forged and there are great things ahead. To give you an idea of what has been achieved since December 2023:
A new website for Driftwood
A new website for The Troubled Photographer
Andy’s Trip to Lisbon (in the March edition of FLOW)
Establishment of a pop up venue in Manchester
Workshop Space in Healey Dell, Rochdale
Potential for a performance event in Bury
Creation of a new set of images ready for print
Procurement of a spanking new Canon A3+ printer
An established core working group.
A road map for the future development of Driftwood Studio
Planning for monthly workshops at the Healey Dell site.
5. What’s next?
There is no doubt that FLOW is changing. We are moving from the old fashioned ‘mailout newsletter’ style to the SubStack Community. We want this move to provide greater access, value and versatility for all our readers.
So what’s in the pipe?
Online shop for Artwork from Driftwood Artists
Training and Coaching with the Kawa Model
Weekly Vlogs from Healey Dell
Podcast from Dave Brown and David Nixon
A theatre collaboration between Madeleine Howard & David Nixon
Fine art photography from Andy Croft.
So this has not been the conventional FLOW format, but we will be posting more frequently now and we look forward to making our new home and growing this creative community here on Substack.
Finally
We want to hear from you.
What do you want to see in FLOW?
What’s working and what’s not?
We want you to get involved so that we can fulfil our vision and make everyone and artist.
